I’m excited to show you guys a little YouTube video I put together from my trip to Florida. It shows off my outfit details and what I was up to last weekend. It’s short and sweet and I hope you all like it. Please subscribe to my channel here and leave your channel links in the comments so I can subscribe to yours as well. I would appreciate some love ❤️❤️❤️.
As you may have noticed I headed to Florida this weekend for a little family vacation. I was so excited to catch a break from the cold weekend we had in New York. Of course I came home to a snow storm on Monday which was a change of pace from the Florida humidity I was experiencing.
My first outfit included one of the top trends right now, that was covered in my previous post. Fishnets are having a moment, but this time I paired them with thigh-high boots from Essex Glam and high-waisted jean shorts. I then paired the outfit with this gorgeous blouse from Metisu with fun bell sleeves. This was a good transitional look for me in the airport with an added cozy sweater from Knitted Belle Boutique. I loved how the cardigan was longer than my shorts too to give the look some added proportions. I topped it off with my new Furla purse and these gorgeous sunglasses from Zero UV. Last summer it was all about the yellow clear aviators, this summer it is going to be about the pink see-through aviator glasses. These shades are only around $10 too!
For my pool look, I put on my new suit from Tictail NYC. I was invited to go shop with Tictail at their store and selected this swimsuit to take home with me. Tictail NYC is such an amazing store. I was at the store this past week to promote that all sales would go to Planned Parenthood and He for She all week long. All of the brands at the store are also female-founded and it was such an amazing store to visit. I love this suit and was afraid to try out a high-waisted bikini for the longest time, but I should have figured it would have worked well with me. My long torso loves a high-waist. The print with the stripes had me and my friend Zoe drooling over this suit too.
My second day look was a little more dressed up. We were going to a family gathering and I was so excited to wear this dress from Metisu for the first time. Embroidery is especially in right now and I was dying to put this on. I added a little belt to it to accentuate my waist and the flare of the skirt. I then paired it with my poker tights from Time for Tights. These tights are amazing and you will get a lot of compliments. They don’t look quite like thigh-high socks because of the intricate design. It’s similar, but different and will catch everyone’s eyes. I paired the tights with my River Island booties and a pair of my Zero UV sunglasses. I love big frames on sunglasses, otherwise I feel so uncomfortable when shades feel small on my face.
Not sure if anyone else recalls this, but about 10 years ago kimono dresses were an “it” item. I had one back in high school and still wear it to this day because it is so flattering. What makes them so flattering is the accentuated waist line. It draws attention to your waist which will make you look slimmer. Dresses can end up looking like a comfortable sleeping bag, but with a cinched waist a dress can really make you stand out. Your natural waistline will thank you later.
There is also the amazing necklines of Kimono dresses. They lay very elegantly on your chest. It doesn’t show too much off while still showing off your figure. When I saw this piece at Wolf and Whistle, I knew it was the one because this silhouette is my favorite as is the color.
I paired it with fishnets from the shop Time for Tights. There tights are so adorable and it gives this dress an added edge. Fishnets are really having a moment right now, so don’t be afraid to try them.
These jeans are everything I’ve been searching for. I’ve been needing more black jeans lately and undoubtedly I was in desperate need of a statement hem on my jeans. The frayed jean look is fun and city chic. Per usual I am rocking the high-waisted style which helps elongate my legs. I paired them with my mock-neck shirt from Asos and my brand new boots from River Island.
I don’t know what it is about patent leather boots, but I am immediately attracted to them. I was looking for a new boot with a mid-level heel and a square toe. A square toe is extremely in style right now and I was so excited to find my dream pair from River Island.
I also threw on this gray cardigan sweater from Eliza Plume Boutique it is so cozy and very sleek looking for a cardigan. It has more structure like a jacket versus a normal slouchy cardigan. It definitely gives your outfit a more polished look rather than a more relaxed one.
I got this jacket from Gamiss and it can really pull together a winter look. I paired it with my Zara skirt and Pink Haley handbag for a somewhat monochrome look. I loved the way this outfit photographed.
Feel free to check out Gamiss here for some amazing finds at killer prices and as always check out Pink Haley for some handbags that you won’t see anywhere else. Please don’t mind my bruise…yikes.
A statement sleeve. This trend came into 2016 with a bang and will be definitely sticking around for 2017. There is something about a statement sleeve that just adds an extra bit of chic to your outfit, not to mention it’s a head turner. This statement top is from Zaful, it is truly amazing with the wrap around front and bow accent to make it extra special. Moving on to the sleeves now, let’s talk about tiers. This triple-tiered sleeve adds so much extra volume to the top, it is fantastic. If you find yourself at a dinner party, like I did, every time you reach across the table you get a few stares. This also leads into the cautionary rules of not getting your sleeve in the olive oil dipping sauce in the middle of the table.
This Zaful top comes at such an unbelievable price, $30.99. Zaful really knows how to make a fashion girl’s heart flutter with the prices and look of this top. Feel free to check them out here.
This paisley tunic by Eliza Plume has fulfilled my boho dreams. I love how flowy the top is with such an accentuated neckline. The deep-V neckline lays so nicely and is even more flattering with the button-down detail. The buttons go down three inches above your belly button and the sleeves have a bishop style. The tunic goes fabulously with a black pair of jeans and a flat boho hat.
Eliza Plume has some amazing clothes on their site. They are trendy, classic and cute. Not only are they an amazing boutique, but they do amazing things. This quarter they are donating a portion of their proceeds to the Special Olympics in their area. Be sure to check out their site here as well as the paisley tunic here.
I am obsessing over this wood watch. I received it from JORD watches and I get so many compliments on it. Such beautiful craftsmanship goes into these watches. The watches are all made of wood sourced from 14 different kinds of trees. These include: Acacia, Bamboo, Ebony, Golden Camphor, Koa, Kasso, Maple, Olive, Purple Heart, Rosewood, Sandalwood, Walnut and Zebrawood. The price ranges from $139 to $295.
The women’s watch that I received is the Fieldcrest Maple. I loved the color of this unique watch. I definitely love lighter tones. The clasp was interesting to figure out at first, but taking it off and putting it on is so easy once you figure it out. Other watches I have had get worn from fastening the belt and the metal detailing gets scratched on basically everything I touch. The wood does not scratch like other metal watches and the wood does not fade like leather-band watches. This is such an amazing watch made from amazing material.
Here is their site and a link to my watch. They are also doing a GIVEAWAY for $100 off a watch of your choice, but everyone who enters will receive $25 off. Click this link and fill out the form to win! Giveaway ends January 29th at midnight.
I can not tell you how absolutely ecstatic I am to have received a pair of Second Skin Overalls from one of my favorite fashion blogs, We Wore What. I had been telling my family and especially my sister all about them when they launched. I recently entered a giveaway on her Instagram and I won a pair of overalls. So my $240 pair of overall dreams came true.
I selected the High Rise Flare. I must tell you it was such a toss up between these and the Jumpsuit. Although the Jumpsuit is such a killer piece, I could only see myself wearing it a few times and then feeling like it was over worn. With the High Rise Flare, I have been able to wear them multiple times in many different ways. I wore it with an off-the-shoulder top, with a t-shirt and with nothing underneath. The nothing underneath is definitely a going-out look and may give you the tiniest bit of side boob. Needless to say I covered up with a bomber jacket that day.
I absolutely recommend investing in a pair of these, they are so stretchy and warm. Thankfully, they are super accommodating for us long torso girls too. The only thing is that they are a little long. I have the legs of a girl who is about 5’6″, but I am actually 5’8″ and I definitely wear a two-inch-heel boot with these overalls. I really should wear a three-inch heel though.
I can not thank the We Wore What team enough for my new closet staple.
This ruffled off-the-shoulder metallic bodysuit from Chi Chi London is the ultimate statement piece. The bodysuit is from the holiday collection and I undoubtedly wore this on New Year’s Eve as well, with a faux fur skirt. The next question is how can I take my extraordinary outfit into something I can wear more ordinarily? My solution pair your statement top with a muted bottom. More specifically a high-waisted pair of faded black jeans. This allows the look to be wearable for drinks with friends or out for a nice dinner.
Another point to be made about bodysuits, is that high-waisted pants are you friend not foe. About a month ago a girl came up to me when I was working at Victoria’s Secret. She did not understand how to wear a bodysuit. She was concerned about her stomach looking weird in a bodysuit. I told her, that’s what high-waisted pants are for. This allows any-sized girl to feel comfortable in a bodysuit.
Chi Chi London is an amazing retailer with perfect formal wear. The dresses are so feminine and beautiful for any occasion. Definitely a retailer to check out for formal wear or a night out. Visit their site here.
